I went with a friend for a meal here this Tuesday. For a Tuesday night the place was pretty full, which was a good sign. Service was friendly & we were seated almost immediately. The wine list is very comprehensive with wines to suit every pocket (NB - Le Mistral also hosts wine tasting events regularly!) and the menu has a good selection of hearty dishes to choose from. Before our starters arrived we shared a bowl of green olives - large, juicy & tasty - then for starters my friend had the 'pate of the day' which was a smooth chicken variety & utterly gorgeous, & I had moules mariniere - again flavoursome, succulent & with a to-die-for white wine & garlic sauce. For main courses my friend had beef bourgignon & I had tarragon chicken, we shared a side bowl of seasonal veg (really tasty ratatouille). bot hmain dishes were served in large white bowls with rice & both dishes were absolutely gorgeous. We purposely ordered different starters & mains so that we could taste each others' food - and having tasted her beef dish, I'm going to have to go back again to have it for myself! We saved almost ?20 by using our GS card, and picked up a list of dates for future wine tasting evenings from our friendly waiter. A great place, tucked away from the bustle of town, with superb food & service - a winner!
