What our members say about Le Mistral

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic evening out at Le Mistral. The Moules et Frites were reminiscent of those eaten in France. For the mains we had Entrecote Steak with sauce au poivre and Boeuf Bourguignon, both of which were fantastic. The steak was great, but the sauce in particular was superb. The big chunks of beef in the bourguignon went down particularly well. The puddings were so-so, nothing particularly standing out, but pleasant all the same.

Overall a really great meal in a nice location, and with 3 courses free, great value too. Recommended.

Visited Le Mistral last night and was very impressed. The atmosphere is casual and cosy and very relaxing. The tarragon chicken is the best chicken dish I've had in Nottingham. The only disappointment is a very limited choice of dessert for nut allergy sufferers such as myself.

Felt like you'd been transported into France! Good atmostphere despite it being very quiet (but that was 6pm on a Monday). Quite a small menu, but the food is expertly cooked and there's plenty of it! Staff were polite and chatty. Really nice laid back little restaurant!

Le Mistral is a great hide away in the centre of Nottingham. Ideal for somewhere to stop for lunch and a bottle of wine after some serious shopping!!! Great wine list and I highly recommend the beef bourgoignon which is so tender. Their motto is slow food in a fast world which is very true, so don't go if you are in a rush. Instead sit back and order another glass of wine!

I went with a friend for a meal here this Tuesday. For a Tuesday night the place was pretty full, which was a good sign. Service was friendly & we were seated almost immediately. The wine list is very comprehensive with wines to suit every pocket (NB - Le Mistral also hosts wine tasting events regularly!) and the menu has a good selection of hearty dishes to choose from. Before our starters arrived we shared a bowl of green olives - large, juicy & tasty - then for starters my friend had the 'pate of the day' which was a smooth chicken variety & utterly gorgeous, & I had moules mariniere - again flavoursome, succulent & with a to-die-for white wine & garlic sauce. For main courses my friend had beef bourgignon & I had tarragon chicken, we shared a side bowl of seasonal veg (really tasty ratatouille). bot hmain dishes were served in large white bowls with rice & both dishes were absolutely gorgeous. We purposely ordered different starters & mains so that we could taste each others' food - and having tasted her beef dish, I'm going to have to go back again to have it for myself! We saved almost ?20 by using our GS card, and picked up a list of dates for future wine tasting evenings from our friendly waiter. A great place, tucked away from the bustle of town, with superb food & service - a winner!

Le Mistral is a little bit of France in the centre of Nottingham, and the most authentic of all the french retaurants in the city. The food, the ambiance and the wine are all first class- not forgetting the friendly ghost in the gents!! Ideal for a leisurely lunch.
