The Rainbow Cafe in Cambridge was winner of Best Vegetarian Cafe from the Vegetarian Society, Winner of Lord Parsvanath Award from the Indian Vegetarian Society, 2006 & 2008 finalist in UKTV Food 'Local Heroes'. A basement restaurant reaching down a traditional passageway exactly opposite Kings College Gates, Rainbow Cafe offers a warm welcome for Vegetarians, Vegans, anyone with Allergy problems or visitors who prefer to have no meat products for religious reasons. Owner Sharon Meijland estimates that nevertheless 80% of customers are not vegetarians who go 'Because they enjoy the food!' A haven of peace away from the bustle of the City centre the global cuisine has been praised by Nigel Slater, Gary Rhodes and many of the famous faces appearing at the nearby Arts Theatre.
