The British have a sterling maritime history which this beachfront café in St Anne’s, aptly named Seafarers, nobly upholds. After a stroll on the shore or a dip in the sea in clement weather, diners can quite literally step off the beach and into the homely interior. Sat at little tables, young and old can be found tucking into hearty portions on large plates of traditional fish and chips, English breakfasts, pie, potatoes and burgers.
It isn't often diners will see the likes of bread and butter included in an order on a menu nowadays but that’s just what diners get if they ask for the Seafarer’s fish and chips, along with some exquisite mushy peas. The fresh fish is cooked in a light, crisp batter and the piles of chips are a delight to plough through.
Whilst Seafarer’s charm lies in its ability to nostalgically conjure up the atmosphere of a family holiday it keeps its food fresh and modern. Healthy option meals such as salmon or fresh trout with a tasty salad are truly delicious. With warm and hot drinks, pizzas, jackets, fries, southern-fried chicken, pies, chicken kiev, fish goujons, chicken curry and an array of burgers on their menu there isn’t a lot Seafarer’s doesn’t offer. An easily navigable menu makes it perfect for fussy eaters or a mixed family looking for some filling grub after a day out.
Close to nearby attractions of St Anne’s Pier or the golf course, it does a roaring trade but finding a table and being served takes no time. The waiters are warm and pleasant. Better still. Seafarers close proximity to the St Anne's shore means diners can smell of the sea along with the vinegar on their perfectly fluffy chips.
