Seasons

Nottingham, Nottinghamshire

Seasons is an intimate venue with an Italian inspired menu, perfect for a romantic dinner for two a or cosy evening with friends. The relaxed and contemporary decor really sets the tone and makes Seasons a great place to unwind.

Food-wise, Seasons exceeds opening expectations. But things become clearer when knowing that James Crossman is the chef here. James was runner-up in 2005's Nottinghamshire Young Chef Of The Year competition when he was at Hart's and has spent time at Claridge's under Gordon Ramsay. For an understated and delicious meal, Seasons is the place to go.

Ill keep this short and sweet. Please look at a previous review to know about/where Seasons is. For me it is all about the food; the price certainly warrants the exceptional quality. I do not think I have been there once where I could honestly not give less than 9/10 for the food. It is always very very good. I do agree at times with the service; but I never go in there wanting to rush through all my courses, in which case sitting there with friends, drinking wine is enough to make the time pass until the next course. Please do not go there expecting to rush... If you want to rush, there is a Hardys and Hanson not far down the road. This may well suit you better! All in all I would give this restaurant 9/10 for food quality (For me commenting on service is something I can't do, as I have been there many times and know what I am expecting). The Chef is very nice and will try his best to accomodate if you have any others dietary needs.

I had never noticed this restaurant on the many times that I had driven by, although on asking it had been there nearly 2 years. Tucked in amongst the small shop this restaurant seemed to be hiding from business instead of calling it in and sharing in the fantastic food. It made me ask why? Inside, you find a plainly decorated room, no bigger than someone's living room with minimal seating and mirrors dotted about the room to try to give it a larger feel. But you are not there for the decor, you are definitely there for the food, which was very appetizing, with presentation that is pleasing to the eye. The menu, although very limited, was handwritten with descriptive, mouthwatering ideas that definitely deliver when the meal arrives. Everything we had was cooked to perfection and warranted the price given on the menu. I went with a couple of friends and my partner on this evening out and our only suggestion for improvement with the food was that the Stilton starter dish should really have had the stilton crumbled on the salad and not served in a wedge that was too big for even the most enthusiastic stilton lover to have managed. As stated by our party, 'Such good Stilton should not be served in such a large quantity that it finishes up being thrown in the bin.' Two of our party had this starter but there was enough cheese on the two plates to have made four starters. Other disappointments were that the service was a bit too slow (to the point that people that had arrived after us left before us) and we were charged for the wrong bottle of wine on our bill. Also I do need to make other restaurant goers aware that when we paid with our cards, the service staff automatically put a 10% service charge on our bills. As the service was one thing we were not happy with, we felt this to be unacceptable and feel that you should be given the choice on how much, if any tips you should leave. It would be for this reason only that I wouldn't go back again. 7/10 only because the food was so good.
