What our members say about Tamatanga

This was my first visit to Tamatanga which is actually classed as an Indian canteen, rather than a restaurant. Don't be put off by this though as the service was very prompt and professional. We only had a short wait for our food; the menu contained a sufficient amount of choice with the meals being well presented; portion sizes were slightly above average, and the food was extremely tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

What a great restaurant! The place is new so although the staff were friendly enough they couldn't answer some of the questions we had (like what was in each dish)

The food was excellent though and arrived very quickly. We shared a thali dish as weren't very hungry and ended up ordering more garlic nan just because it was delicious!

Would definatly recommend.

We have just joined The Gourmet Society so this was our first restaurant visit as members. It seems the restaurant has only been open 3-4 weeks and is a bit out of the way for passing trade but hopefully more people will find it. The layout is simple with shared tables. The staff were extremely helpful and the food arrived in 5-10 mins. It looked really attractive and tasted delicious! We have been eating Indian food for many many years and can be fussy but this really was good. I expect we will become regulars here.

Brilliant! Stumbled across this place after shopping last week (it's in a square just across from John Lewis, The Cornerhouse I think) and couldn't have been happier. In fact I requested that they join the Gourmet Society and they obviously have! Fantastic food, great service, lovely place to be in with a very nice atmosphere. Food arrived within 5 or 10 minutes of ordering which was amazing and it was such good value for money. Can't wait to go back with my gourmet society card!!! Only one thing I'd say, the window seats are crazily high - not very comfy to sit on so I moved to one of the tables which was much better.

Great place! REally enjoyed our visit here - it's a very casual and laid back place, similar to wagamama with their shared seating except the tables are a lot bigger so it's more intimate. We've never been to an indian restaurant like it, a completely different experience in eating indian food and it works really well. Normally wouldn't go for a curry before the cinema as it takes so long but this was quick as anything. Food was amazing - apparently they've got the ex head chef from Mem Saab and you could definitely tell. Try the tamatanga thali - an awesome meal!! We were in and out in an hour which included desserts (spiced mud pie to die for according to the wife) and the bill was only £17 give or take. Staff surprisingly not Indian, nor the manager but knew all about the dishes so no problem there. Also their offer is unlimited so we're going to be back again and again!! Must try. New fave place in Nottingham - too many of the same old same old, but this place is just so different and fun.
