PLEASE NOTE THIS RESTAURANT IS NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE BOOKINGS ON A FRIDAY

The Larder on Goosegate opened on Saturday 4th March 2006 on the newly refurbished site of the old Aquarium restaurant on the first floor at 16 - 22 Goosegate, Hockley. At the Larder on Goosegate they believe in understanding the provenance of the food they serve their customers.
By sourcing as much of their produce directly from farmers, growers and producers in the local area they feel they can be 100% confident in the quality of the ingredients they use. They aim to source all of their ingredients as locally as possible. However, to offer a wide range of dishes they do have to sometimes go further a field, but always endeavour to source their ingredients from independent British producers. They believe this not only supports local and British producers alike but also reduces the time and distance the food has travelled to get to the plate, which they feel can only be a good thing.

What our members say about The Larder on Goosegate

Peter Orban

Nottingham

Consistently high quality service (thanks Rob!), wine and locally sourced food over the years. The Larder recognises the need to work hard to stay in front to the pack. This they do with clear style and an evident pleasure.

Dave Mills

Don't agree at all with the previous review. The night we went the atmosphere was really buzzy, great staff and a real warmth to the place. My steak was sublime and all of us really enjoyed our meals. The artwork gives real character to the place, we'll definitely be returning.

Lindsay Robinson

Nottingham

Have been here twice now, once for Sunday lunch and the other time on a mid week evening. The service is friendly and prompt but the rather "empty and cold" room does not do much for the atmosphere. As the previous reviewer said, it is easily missed, being upstairs. However the food is pretty good although the portions can be a little small. Good fresh vegetables and reasonably priced wine by the glass. Nothing really exciting though!

Steve Pendegrass

Nottingham

Service with a smile, excellent food in terms of both choice and taste and one of the few restaurants I have found that can cook a steak blue. Only one thing is that the restaurant is on the first floor of a busy street and can be easy to miss so keep your wits with you.
