Situated in Nottingham's popular Lace Market, The Living Room has been an integral part of the city's dining scene since 2002. The historic Lace Market was once at the heart of the world's lace industry; the building in which The Living Room is now situated fucntioned as a showroom for lace manufacturers to parade and sell their designs.

Now, it's a sophisticated, stylish piano bar and restaurant which has cultivated a chic, upbeat atmosphere and does a great job of providing the space for an excellent evening of food, wine and - should you fancy it - cocktails.

Having been to the living room a number of times just for drinks, and having been impressed by the cocktails, i decided to try the restaurant. The dining area is quietly tucked away from the main bar and is a very stylish and comfortable place to eat. The waiting staff were very friendly and the menu was great, with plenty of good dishes on offer.

The fruits de mer starter was good, though let down by the lobster bisque which just tasted like tomato soup to both of us. However, the fillet steak was exceptionally good quality and perfectly cooked to order, as was the ostrich. Desserts too were excellent and i would definitely have the creme brulee again.

All in all a great night out and i am already trying to think of an excuse to go again!
