Toll House
Nottingham, Nottinghamshire
The Toll House restaurant is set in an idyllic location alongside the River Trent at Gunthorpe in Nottinghamshire. It is only 8 miles from the centre of Nottingham but could be 800 when you are sitting next to the river on a summer's evening with swans floating past you. There has been a pub on this site for time and memorial. However now under the careful ownership of a new family with the day to day operations overseen by brothers Simon and Seb, it has become a destination restaurant. There is a comfortable modern waiting area in which to enjoy pre-meal drinks and conversation. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, with collages and paintings combining interesting designs and motifs by using driftwood salvaged from the river when flooded. The light and airy dining room can comfortably seat 40 diners yet still preserve privacy between tables. Full length French windows give access to the riverside garden and thus in the summer, allows you the opportunity to dine alfresco.
