With its prime location right opposite The British Museum in London, Munchkins Restaurant is a hugely popular choice for tourists looking for somewhere typically British to eat. Opened back in 1987, this Great Russell Street stalwart has been serving visitors from all over the world for many years, with numerous returning time and again to the restaurant to enjoy classic British dishes.
Along with a wide range of British snacks and dinners, Munchkins Restaurant also serves a fantastic afternoon tea, one of the most quintessentially British dining occasions if ever there was one. Tuck into a delicious Cream Tea, featuring warm, freshly made scones, a large dollop of thick clotted cream and strawberry jam served with a lovely pot of tea or opt for the full Afternoon Tea with a variety of delicate finger sandwiches, cakes and pastries and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the heart of London.
Named after the little people in the Judy Garland film “The Wizard of Oz”, Munchkins Restaurant sticks with the theme with its comical yellow brick road leading to the toilets. Doors are decorated with images of the film’s main characters, a fun touch to the decor. Union Jack flags stick up from every table whilst menus have been thoughtfully translated into a whole host of world languages.
Having served visitors to London for over 25 years, Munchkins Restaurant is a legend of a tourist restaurant and its fantastic British afternoon tea is proving to be a big hit among those visiting the British Museum across the street.
