The Sawrey House hotel is located in the ironically named Near Sawrey village, a part of the British Lake Districts. The views afforded to this hotel are second to none encompassing the vast Grizedale Forest and Esthwaite Water. Large picture windows let the daylight to flood in, illuminating the architecture and interior of this gorgeous Victorian country house. rnrnNeatly laid and inviting tables are placed in front of the windows creating an idyllic view of the gardens and scenery of the Lakeland Fells. Rabbits hop around the hotel gardens and games of croquet are leisurely played by guests and visitors. The offer of afternoon tea with a window seat is a popular one for local residents and guests alike - so be sure to book that table.rnrnThree-tiered trays are wheeled out, having been mounted with a variety of finger sandwiches, scones and many sweet treats. The scones are quintessentially served with an excellently sized dollop of jam and clotted cream for mouth-watering bites. A choice of loose leaf tea or coffee is also available for diners, to accompany the tempting delicacies. rnrnNeighbouring the rustic delight of Sawrey House is Hilltop Farm, home to British literary legend Beatrix Potter. The hotel was originally built in the 1800's to house the local vicar and his wife, whom quickly become acquaintances of Beatrix herself. Diners are sure to bask in this piece of English history, when informed that Beatrix and the vicar's wife regularly sat at the very same picture windows - still used today for the eternal afternoon tea ritual.
