Monday-Sunday 12.00-18.00 Excludes Racing Days - please check when booking

The Rutland Arms Hotel, in Newmarket, wears its roots on its sleeve, appearing every inch the 17th-century coaching inn it once was. To this day, it still offers both guests and diners a warm welcome through its postcard-pretty doors, where a quaint cobbled courtyard, elegantly decorated rooms, a handsome restaurant and a relaxed bar are all ready to greet them.rnrnAfternoon tea at the Rutland Arms Hotel is served in the Nell Gwyn bar. It strikes a balance between comfy and contemporary, lining up cushy couches and low tables around which diners can while away the afternoon. The tea begins with an arrangement of finger sandwiches piled with the traditional ham, cucumber and salmon fillings. Given the AA Rosette standard of the hotel's main restaurant, Carriages, home-made fare is a given. Scones are baked in-house by the talented chefs before being served with delectable little dishes of jam and clotted cream. The cake is home-made, too, and might come in the form of anything from icing-sprinkled Victoria sponge to ingots of lemon drizzle cake. To finish things off in true race day style, diners can upgrade the Rutland Arms Hotel's afternoon tea by adding a bubbling bottle of prosecco to the arrangement.rnrnDiners will discover the Rutland Arms Hotel in Newmarket, a town that has long been a haven for horse racing fans. From the hotel's premium locale at the top of the High Street, diners can explore Newmarket's offering of museums, forest walking trails and world-renowned race courses. On top of that, history-steeped towns like Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge are around a half-hour drive away.
