The award-winning Amore has taken no time at all to become one of Sunderland's most popular restaurants and credit goes to all those responsible. This is an Italian restaurant with modern flair. Contemporary fusion cuisine made from fresh local ingredients and tasteful, stylish surroundings demonstrate a real attention to detail. Tuesday nights is live jazz night, where customers can be treated to some fine live music while they eat and drink. In 2007 Amore was awarded Best Italian Restaurant in Tyne and Wear at the Customer Excellence Awards. This restaurant is tipped for more accolades in the future as its excellent reputation grows, and we would definitely recommend booking in advance. Please note they have a lift for disabled access.

Heard lots about this restaurant and was not disappointed! Five of us had dinner on a Wednesday night, an excellent sign, it was just about full. Quite noisy, everyone enjoying themselves, funky modern decor (love the lounge!)the food was fast, service was friendly, menu choice massive - so big in fact, we chickened out and ordered from the specials menu! We had the fillet steak with marsala, great steak and wouldn't have thought to put curry with it, but it was delicious. Tempura asparagus was popular too, as were the chicken with black pudding or asparagus & mozzarella. Desserts did not disappoint, profiteroles with mars bar sauce, sticky toffee pud and bakewell with a chunky jam layer. Overall, we loved it, will definately be going back, Dad has his eye on the lunch menu for business purposes and the staff were good enough to offer a 20% discount for the 5 of us. Well deserved and gladly given tip 10/10!

We loved this restaurant when it was owned by the tavistock group and were concerned when they sold it on (we had our wedding reception here and it was great). However, its actually still a great restaurant - and they have added a lift for disabled access, which will be good news for elderly/disabled customers. The food is pretty good (the tempura asparagus was nice if a little on the small side for a starter). I like the fact they have theme evenings and will definitely try these out. This place is a real gem - and the sunday dinner is definitely the best in Sunderland (and i know i have eaten everywhere). Try it, you wont be dissapointed (gets busy on saturday nights though!)
