Banks Bistro in Wolverhampton has taken the bull by the horns and wowed locals who have visited it with its class and quality. Serving a simple and unfussy menu of traditional cuisine, grills and some continental dishes, it is a cosy, clean and sophisticated place to be taken out for a top notch meal.
Set on two floors, the décor is modern and stylish. Sparkling wine glasses adorn the solid wooden tables whilst gleaming cutlery and white plates sit, laid out, waiting for diners’ arrival. Banks' waiting staff are warm and unfussy. With a real personal touch, they allow diners to relax and enjoy their meal, whether that’s a long weekend lunch or an evening treat.
The à la carte menu boasts a well-balanced array of starters, mains and desserts, which means a three course dinner slips down easily. Banks' amazing steaks, cooked to order, have garnered a huge amount of praise, as do the delicious home-made sauces and triple cooked chips which accompany them.
Well-balanced, refined starters like the French classic; asparagus a la crème and delicately cooked seared scallop are well presented and really elegant. The mains are pleasingly unfussy and have something for everyone; from succulent pork belly, to juicy chicken and tender sea bass.
The list of desserts at Banks is particularly impressive. Far from an after-thought, they feature carefully considered combinations such as a Malibu and pineapple tart, chocolate pudding as well as a ginger and apple sponge.
Banks' prides itself on the great array of wines, beers and bottled ales are on offer. Their cheese board comes with a fantastic port and, along with traditional coffees this Wolverhampton restaurant also offer liqueur coffees on request.
