Salsa Tapas Bar

89 Westgate Road, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Tyne And Wear, NE1 4AE

"Enticing flavours and chilled out style" is the promise of this little gem and it certainly delivers. Weathered timbers, beaten up tables, mismatched chairs, comfy sofas and smooth tunes all combine to give Salsa the perfect atmosphere for informal social grazing. Salsa is located in the heart of this vibrant city directly opposite the O2 Academy gig venue, just down the road from the historic Tyne Theatre and close to the Metro Radio Concert Arena and St. James' Park home to Newcastle United F.C. From 5pm the evening menu offers delicious tapas dishes such as minted lamb meatballs, wild mushroom risotto, tempura battered brie and tiger prawns in garlic, complemented with popular favourites like nachos and seasoned wedges with loads of dipping salsas. Salsa is also fully licensed so if you fancy just coming down for a beer, glass of wine, cocktail or jug of Sangria then that's just fine. After more than a decade Salsa is still referred to as "a little place I know" and as a venue to eat, drink and hang out... it's still got the groove !

What our members say about Salsa Tapas Bar

James B.

I've been to Salsa several times now. Great choice of tapas dishes and always delicious. The staff are always really friendly and happy to help. The place is quite small but that gives it a great atmosphere. The food is always quick and never disappointing.

I've been going to this restaurant since the day it opened. It's a very friendly cosy place. The food is extremely good with plenty of choice and the atmosphere second to none. Absolutely worth a visit, and I'm sure you will return.

Went for the first time Thursday 17/3/2011 early evening. The place is cafe style with sofas and wood tables ,not a table cloth in sight.Casual friendly with a good atmosphere. Some people eating but some just chilling on the sofas having a drink. You don't feel as if you have to eat but it would be a shame not too as the food is good.We ordered a LTR of Sangria with free nachos(£14).Large plate big enough as a starter for two with left overs. You order at the bar so the pace of the evening is how you like it. Food comes out soon after ordering. So with the girl behind the bars advice we ordered 3 tapas each thinking if not enough we could have more on the table soon after. No need we found 3 was quite filling especially after the nachos starter. No room for puds but they are on the menu. We will return.

Great little restaurant with lovely food and quirky decor. Excellent value for money. Bill for the food came to just under ten pounds for 6 tapas. If that wasnt enough, the atmosphere cant be beaten.

Great relaxed atmosphere in the Salsa Cafe, everyone is very laid back and it provides a great place to unwind. Salsa Cafe has a wide selection of dishes which all seems freshly cooked - I recommend the nachos!
