The Red Lion is traditional English pub in the heart of Norwich, a city pub with a local atmosphere by the river Wensum watched over by Norwich's iconic cathedral spire. It stands beside the historic medieval Bishop Bridge, the site of the Red Lion has been a pub since the building of the Cathedral and the bridge in 1249. The present building dates from around 1760 with parts going back as far as the 15th century. The menu is simple, fresh and seasonal and sourced from local producers where possible. Handmade pizzas are made to order and the Sunday carvery has good reviews. The pub stocks a good range of cask ales including beer from local breweries which are regularly rotated. You can eat in either the pub or heated riverside conservatory.

NORWICH

Excellent pub food, freshly prepared, always friendly

Linda B.

The Gourmet Card listing tempted us to this pub located on the river in Norwich not on our usual beat unless doing the river walk. In fact it is a great location looking out at a historic bridge. We had excellent house special burgers with hand cut chips and a small portion of home made coleslaw. Delicious, fulfilling and all obviously "made from scratch", definitely not mass produced chain restaurant food. Not yet tried but looking forward to the pizzas and sunday lunch at this friendly establishment...and good beer too!
