Recommended for five consecutive years by The Michelin Guide is the superb independent restaurant, The Boot Room. Found a stone’s throw away from the Sue Towsend Theatre, the Newarke Houses Museum and Gardens and even the burial site of Richard III, The Boot Room is in the epicentre of cultural Leicester.

Once a shoe factory, the location of The Boot Room is an open area decorated with tranquil shades of cream and green, creating the ideal ambience for a relaxed occasion. Leister locals are in for a treat at The Boot Room as the menu is full of Modern English and International delicacies.

Begin a fantastic dining experience with one of the exemplary appetisers, including sublime starters like the refreshing poached pear, chicory and stilton salad, soaked in red wine and drizzled with a grain mustard dressing, the delicious pan seared scallops, adorned with roasted mushrooms and a garlic dressing, and the eclectic Boot Room Antipaso, an assortments of prosciutto ham, pickled artichoke, salami and more.

A large ensemble of rich offerings make up the main course menu, catering to all tastes with resplendent dishes. Noteworthy examples of these main events are the exquisite Lunesdale Duck, cooked in the chef’s secret blend on spices with puy lentils and a cherry jus, the succulent beef fillet medallions, paired with a Diane sauce, dauphinoise potatoes and sugar snaps, and the sumptuous veggie friendly gnocchi, served in a creamy truffle and mushroom sauce.

Those still brave enough to conclude the meal on a sweet note will be rewarded for their gluttony with one of the divine desserts available, including heavenly offerings like the special Soufflé of the Day, the decedent chocolate fondant or the savoury sensation that is the cheese and biscuits selection.

No matter the choice of meal, diners are sure to remember their experience at The Boot Room as an utterly enjoyable affair.

What our members say about The Boot Room

Roger C.

Whetstone

We have been to the Boot Room twice and each time it has not failed to impress. The restaurant is part of the heritage of the boot and show industry in Leicester and there are references to this throughout. In many ways it retains the character of the original use of the building. There is good space between tables, so that you are not all jam-packed in. It is not a plush restaurant, but it is comfortable and spacious, with a good ambience. The staff are young and very attentive, as well as being knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu. There are no time pressures and staff wait until they are sure you have finished each course. The menu is not overly extensive, but offers a good choice of dishes to suit most palates. There are also some interesting combinations, such as the duck and black pudding croquettes. The quantities of food are just right and the wine list is varied, without being over the top. It has a good local reputation and is well situated in the city centre, but slightly away from the local pubs, so that there is some peace and quiet. In short it is a well rounded, comfortable venue that is sure to please.
