Jewel

West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire

Based on Paul Scott's acclaimed Raja Quartet, The Jewel In The Crown was heralded as the rebirth of British television in the early 1980s. The Jewel In The Crown in West Bridgford, now simply shortened to just Jewel, is making quite a stir.

The Jewel is a good Indian restaurant in a charming suburban setting, which has a number of local regulars. The very contemporary setting with unusual and striking lighting is effective and adds a little extra to the whole dining experience. The food really hits the mark in a way that many places try to but just narrowly miss.

The Jewel serves all of the traditional favourites, such as chicken byriani and lamb korma. However, for a really good night we would recommend you try any of the "special" dishes.

This restuarant is an old favourite of mine, the service is very friendly and its one of those places you can literally spend hours in, relaxing and socialising over a very exquisite meal. The staff are always eager to help but not the type where you are asked 'is everything okay' every 5 minutes. The setting is in the middle of West Bridgford, the decor is vry modern however the shpreical couroured lighting doesnt match the restuarant, in retrospect they do look like 'jewels' in the ceiling, so i suppose is does match the name of the restuarant. I would highly recommend the lamb dishes as they are melt in the mouth. And they make the debt Methi i have tasted for a long time. Have a visit, you wont be dissapointed.
