Serving superb Indian cuisine to all of Lincoln, Castlegate Indian is a sublime restaurant that has a menu birthed from a team of creative chefs who utilise only the finest ingredients, such as fresh produce, meat and ground spices, in every single dish.
Found in the south of Lincoln, Castlegate Indian finds itself an ideal location that is both secluded from and yet situated close enough to the main city that guests can enjoy the best of both worlds. Also located close to the Playzone Lincoln and Lincoln City Football Club, Castlegate Indian serves as the perfect hub for when both kids and adults have to play.
Kick things off with one of the excellent appetisers, such as the classic vegetable samosa, the varied mixed kebab or the special Raja Puri, which consists of grilled king prawns in a slightly spicy sweet and sour sauce and wrapped in soft bread.
As can be expected from an exemplary curry house all the favourites are present. From biryani to balti and madras to masala, the spice spectrum is perfectly balanced for both those who like it hot as well as diners who were born to be mild.
There are, however, some exquisite house specialities that truly set Castlegate Indian apart from other curry houses, such as the tantalising bijna bual, an Indian fish based dish cooked with a medium garlic sauce, and the inferno conjuring Ghandi’s Revenge, available with either chicken or lamb and served with an extremely fiery sauce.
For those families or groups who have that member that doesn’t fancy anything spicy there are more English orientated sections of the menu, including tried and tested dishes like steak and chips as well as a special menu for the kids.
Since things can heat up quickly, regardless of how tolerant a diner’s palate is to spice, guests will be pleased to know that with the Gourmet Society discount they are entitled to 25% off the entire bill; drinks included. That means that when their teeth tear through a chilli that’s just a tad too spicy they can douse the fire with one of the many chilled lagers, such as a pint of Cobra or Tiger, safe in the knowledge it comes at a reasonable price. There are also plenty of wines, most of which can be paired with a particular dish, for those with more refined tastes and champagnes for those extra special occasions.
