New Moston in Manchester is home to Gossip, the very first Malaysian Kopitiam in the north west of
England. Meaning coffee shop or café, Kopitiams can be found all over Malaysia and Singapore and
are the Malaysian equivalent of a classic coffee shop. However instead of serving cakes and pastries
to accompany the coffee, traditional Malaysian cuisine is served. Gossip is an exciting establishment,
bringing a really authentic taste of traditional Malaysian life and culture to Manchester.
Naturally coffee is big on the Gossip menu, all freshly brewed and wonderfully flavourful. As for the
food, the menu features a wide and extensive variety of dishes. Tuck into small, almost tapas style
dishes such as the karipap - a deep fried curry puff filled with chicken and potatoes or indulge in
something a little larger such as the mee udang broth with egg noodles, prawns, shrimp, bean
sprouts and boiled egg. Curries a big on the menu too including the classic Malaysian chicken curry
made with coconut milk. This wonderfully fragrant dish is served with a bowl of steamed rice. Gossip
is a perfect hangout for local mums, offering a great menu for the little ones too.
An industrial look best describes the modern style of Gossip, with low hung ceiling lamps and an
open plan kitchen. The huge black and white print of a typical Malaysian Kopitiam covers one whole
wall and really does add to the vibe of the place.
Enjoy a taste of typical Malaysian life at Gossip, where the quality of the food and coffee will not
disappoint.
