An enchanting hotel situated in the middle of Wales, the Lake Country House Hotel is an award winning establishment, having been recognised as the Good Hotel Guide’s Spa Hotel of the Year, part of the Pride of Britain and listed as a four star hotel by the AA. With these accolades in mind it should come as no surprise that the on-site restaurant is also exquisite, offering both hotel residents and hungry guests a resplendent array of Welsh delicacies.
Now accepting the Gourmet Society card, members calling in advance can enjoy everything on the extensive menu at a marvellous price, providing the perfect excuse to indulge with a little extra, whether it’s concluding the meal with a heavenly dessert or enriching it with something potent from behind the well-stocked bar.
The menu may be concise but it adheres to the adage of quality over quantity, serving up some truly sumptuous fare. This is evident from the very first bite, with exemplary appetisers, such as the irresistible scallops, complete with sweetcorn and popcorn, the tantalising barbecue artichoke, adorned with hazelnuts and onion ash, and the rich ham hock, paired with piccalilli and a crispy egg.
Equally as opulent are the main courses, which feature some utterly divine options. Outstanding selections include the sublime pan fried hake, served with tenderstem broccoli and a lemon butter, the scrumptious duck breast, partnered with an apricot chutney and a port wine jus, and the scrumptious lentil dahl, finished with roasted celeriac and a cucumber yogurt.
With the dining area manned by the same fantastic level of service found throughout the hotel guests are sure to feel welcomed whilst dining at the Lake Country House Hotel.
