Found on White Hart Street in the idyllic Norfolk market town of Thetford, just a stone’s throw away from the picturesque Thetford Forest Park, the Thomas Paine Hotel makes for a relaxing venue from which to escape those everyday trials and tribulations. Sat within a collection of 18th century cottages and named for the famous English-American activist and revolutionary, the hotel owns a sense of history that is largely unparalleled which, when combined with their bright and airy interior, makes for quite the space to stop off for some relaxation.
Whether they're staying overnight in one of the cosy bedrooms or merely looking for a couple of hours of rest and recuperation and some sumptuous food in the on-site restaurant, all are offered a warm welcome at the hotel. This invitation is extended to Gourmet Society members, who are able to partake in all that can be found on the seasonally changing a la carte menu at a superb price, provided they call in advance and produce their card upon arrival.
Beginning with one of the scrumptious starters, where such delights as a gratifying collection of crispy chicken goujons and a glorious prawn and crayfish cocktail have been known to adorn the menu, diners are sure to find their appetite thoroughly whetted for any of the mouth-watering main courses to follow. Particularly enticing examples of the larger plates that have been available include the likes of the heart-warming lamb shank, served with colcannon mash and seasonal vegetables, the traditionally British scampi, mushy peas and hand cut chips combination, and the flavoursome falafel burger, which comes complete with hand cut chips and a salad garnish.
Whether it’s for a family celebration, a catch up with some close friends, a casual evening repast with the significant other, or they’re merely looking for a stop off spit amidst a day of exploration, all are catered for at the Restaurant at the Thomas Paine Hotel.
Please Note: Champagne is not included in the Gourmet Society discount.
