Shire Restaurant is the award winning signature restaurant of the delightful Quorn Country Hotel. Naturally vegetarian food comes straight to mind when pondering the hotel’s name, but it is in fact named after the picturesque village of Quorn in which it is located and although the restaurant caters well for the non-meat eater it is by no means vegetarian only. Shires Restaurant is an AA Rosette awarded dining room serving an exquisite menu of Modern British cuisine and attracts foodies from far and wide with its superb culinary offerings.
Head Chef Joshua Currall and his superb kitchen team have certainly come up with some exciting dishes for the Shire Restaurant menu which is best described as Modern British with heavy French influences. Produce is sourced from local suppliers wherever possible, guaranteeing freshness at all times. Naturally the menu changes according to the seasons but as an idea, diners might start with a dish of orange and coriander pan fried scallops with beetroot puree and samphire and follow with lam cooked three ways - curried shepherd’s pie, lamb belly bon bon, broad beans and rosemary jus or sea bass fillet with fennel puree, wild mushrooms, carb filled tempurade and courgette flowers.
Perched on the banks of the River Soar, the Quorn Country Hotel is a beautiful country retreat and the Shire Restaurant really is its jewel. The dining room is a stunning space with large French doors that open out onto a delightful courtyard. Large classical paintings feature in panels on one wall whilst the whole room is flooded with light from floor to ceilings French doors and windows. An absolute delight in which to dine in, Shire Restaurant is perfect for both guests of the hotel and non-residents, offering a very special dining experience to all who visit.
