When drafting the menu for the Spice Lounge, two sources of inspiration were considered by the owner and the chefs; spice and flavour. Basing dishes on the Northern region of India, the Hayes based restaurant creates a setting of pleasant relaxation, created through dulled mood lighting and contemporary furniture. Whether you’re an Indian cuisine connoisseur or trying something completely new, the Spice Lounge welcomes all.
Residing within the Airlink Hotel, the expansive menu includes all the subcontinent classics, including the murgh makhani – more commonly known as ‘butter chicken’ – a dish in which the meat is coated in a mildly spiced curry sauce and then garnished with herbs and spices from its native Punjab.
Another popular dish is the chicken jalfrezi, an infusion of Indian and Chinese cooking, where the meat is fried in oil and spices, resulting in a dry and thick sauce. The chefs warn guests that the dish contains green chillies, which means this dish is a recommendation for those who have a penchant for ‘hot’.
Whilst the chicken and lamb dishes are highly sought after, the paneer saag is a great alternative for vegetarian diners. It is a mixed leaf dish crafted from spinach, collard greens, mustard leaf and basella, topped with a Bangladeshi curd cheese and served with either rice or naans.
To further enjoy the relaxing precedent set by the Spice Lounge there are plenty of attractions befitting the tone of the restaurant. The renowned Ki Spa at the Nuffeld Health offers plenty of pampering while the Buddha Lounge features many shishas. Also nearby is the London Motor Museum, ensuring that all walks of life can find something to interest them within a close proximity to the Spice Lounge.
