The Old Bell in Gloucester's city centre is comprised of four parts: two bars, one lounge and one restaurant - the Tigerseye. The Tigerseye is an exciting venue that puts a contemporary spin on authentic Japanese cuisine by creating a fusion of fine Pan-Asian food.
Inspired by his extensive travels around Asia, critically-acclaimed Head Chef Rob Sinyard has honed his culinary skills to perfection in the Tigerseye's kitchen, delivering a delectable menu for his guests. Diners are offered two different types of eating experience: the conventional one of passive enjoyment versus an interactive one. The latter of the two illustrates the forward-thinking, imaginative approach taken by Rob and his team. The interactive experience is referred to as Black Rock Grill dining whereby freshly prepared food is brought out to the customer cooking on flaming hot volcanic rocks. Diners are then invited to watch their meat being readied. They can request it be finished to their exacting requirements of rare, medium or well done. This approach fuses entertainment and eating as one enjoyable experience that is fun to try. Prime choice cuts of kangaroo fillet, venison, ostrich, sashimi grade tuna loin, diver-caught scallops and wagyu steak are reflected in the price. Other available menu choices include an eclectic mix to tempt and tantalise. Duck breast with wasabi mash, Japanese tonkatsu port loin and honey-glazed tofu are followed by daily-changed desserts freshly made. A well-stocked wine rack provides a perfect accompaniment to the fine food.
The Old Bell is an iconic building dating back to the seventeen century and steeped in history. The Tigerseye has ambitious plans to expand further in the building which communicates much about its confidence and ability to please its visitors. It looks like Tigerseye in Gloucester is here to stay.
