The Terrace restaurant at The Montagu Arms Hotel was awarded a Michelin Star in only its first year under the direction of Head Chef Matthew Tomkinson, who had already been responsible for Michelin-starred Oxford establishment The Goose. Having received the prestigious Roux scholarship in 2005, Tomkinson is recognised as one of the most talented chefs working in Britain.

This is a fabulously elegant restaurant, with a dining room marked by regency styling, oak panelling and views through the high bay windows onto the hotel's sculpted gardens. An opulent dining room that is only proper for the exceptional food.

Matthew Tomkinson devises menus which take full advantage of the abundance of quality local produce found within and around the New Forest. Ingredients will include fish from the south coast, game and pork sourced from within the national park. Organic and sustainably produced vegetables and herbs are also sourced from The Montagu Arms Kitchen Garden project. Now in its second year, this thriving project has seen the tranformation of a formerly derelict plot of land behind the hotel into a home for forty chickens and a flourishing kitchen garden.

The Terrace restaurant is also highly regarded for its wine list which includes organic, un-oaked and prestigious vintages, while sommeliers are on hand to help guests choose aptly for their meal.
