Tulloch Castle comes with a long and lively backstory that begins in the 12th century, when the Bains clan set up shop in the area.
It's little wonder that they chose this particular spot of the Highlands, the surrounding countryside is a sumptuous sweep of woodland, lochs and rivers, and Tulloch Castle's afternoon teas are served in one of the two cosy bars, providing the utmost in comfort and relaxation.
The afternoon tea itself is a traditional affair crafted from freshly made sandwiches packed with a variety of fillings such as ham and mustard and salmon and cream cheese. The scones are lovingly baked in-house and matched with generous dollops of sweet fruit jam and thick cream. As for the sweet selection, diners can expect an ever-changing pick of muffins, cakes or tarts.
It's easy to be won over by Tulloch Castle's lovely surroundings, so diners can choose to stay the night, if they wish. The Great Hall, which is just as grandiose as the name suggests is an impressive 250 years old, and lovingly dressed in ancient original features like high ceilings and splendid fireplaces.
