The Fox and Roman in York is a country pub and restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. The picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on the menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing the bar. Steeped in as much history as the nearby city of York, the name The Fox and Roman reflects the building's former use as The Fox Hotel and also to a Roman grave found on the site in 1833, we even have a few artefacts on display. The Fox Hotel used to stable racehorses and they still welcome friendly crowds of race goers on race days at the nearby York Racecourse. Enjoy a spot by the roaring log-fire or make the best of the British summertime by eating alfresco in the pretty beer garden.
